Once upon a time — which is to say, now — two people found the kind of love the old tales keep promising.
Together with their families,
Katie & David
request the pleasure of your company as they are married, and the story turns to its brightest chapter.
“Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite.”
Turn these pages as you would any storybook: slowly, by candlelight if you can manage it. Every practical detail of the day is written in the chapters that follow.
Impatient readers may skip straight to Send Your Reply — the ending is happy either way.
Chapter Two
The Day and Hour
When our forever begins.
Saturday, the fifth of June
Two thousand twenty-seven
The ceremony begins at five o'clock in the evening, out on the lawn. Please begin to arrive at a quarter past four.
Semi-formal: we ask that you wear semi-formal attire such as cocktail dresses, jumpsuits, suits, blazers, and slacks.
It gets hot
It can get pretty hot in Virginia in June! The ceremony will take place outdoors on grass, and cocktail hour and the reception will be indoors with A/C.
A word on shoes: the ceremony is on grass — block heels or flats will thank you.
Chapter Five
A Place to Rest
Travel and lodging details.
Rooms
We have a room block at the Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa / Short Pump, about forty minutes from Richmond International Airport. A bus will carry guests between the Hilton and the venue, and Short Pump Town Center is a walk from the door.
Reserve a room — opens Hilton's site with our group rate.
Getting here
Richmond International is about an hour from the venue (forty minutes from the hotel). Dulles and Norfolk are each about three hours from the venue and two from the hotel — and if you fly into Dulles, mind the DC traffic: the train into Richmond may beat a rental car.
In early? Try Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, Maymont, the VMFA, the Poe Museum, Kings Dominion, or Busch Gardens — and Cary Street or Short Pump Town Center for shopping.
Chapter Six
Gifts for the Journey
Your presence is the greatest gift.
Truly — having you there is the whole of it. But for anyone who insists on arriving with more than good wishes, we've left a few notes.
Your presence is the gift; anything else is a kindness.
Chapter Seven
Send Your Reply
Let us know you'll be there.
Kindly reply by the fifteenth of April, 2027, so we can set the right number of places at the table.
Although we love your little ones, ours will be an adults-only evening — and we can only accommodate those named on your invitation. Thank you for understanding!
And they all celebrated, happily ever after.
